The Funcooker

photo On the behalf of the admins here at The Funcooker, I’d like to send out an apology to all our loyal followers. It was up to us to give you a steady stream of all things TV, Movies, Music, and Literature when the rest of our Funcooker contributor posse couldn’t. We’ve had busy schedules as of late and I thought I’d jumpstart our blog, seeing as it’s been three weeks since our last post. SOOORRRYYY! Really, I mean it…. So, throughout today, I’ll be force feeding you queueing up a post for each one of our main categories (in hopes to coax all our contributing members to come back and blog a lil something each day). And hopefully, this won’t happen again.Again, it wasn’t our intention to put this on the backburner.

photo Blog Party!
If you haven’t already noticed, a few changes were made to the front page. Most notably, the new addition of our resident Bloggers!
Starting on Tuesday, angfoo, horrorbot, largecokenoice and webravebees, along with myself, have all agreed to blog on The Funcooker once a week. These posts  will range from editorials, to commentaries, to basic blog centric goodness; giving you insight to the different writing styles and personalities of each blogger, while providing tv, film, music and/or literature oriented entertainment. It takes a lot of time and effort to commit to such a project, so be sure to show your support to our new representatives, and look forward to reading their work! A different blog will be featured each day, Mon-Fri, at the top of the page, and should provide a neat balance with our wonderful contributions and reviews.
(More changes)
Speaking of which, we condensed the sidebar a bit, as you can see. This is due to cut down on contributors. You should be able to expect less quantity and more quality. Also, the amount of posts that shows up on the front page will also be condensed. With the use of a (somewhat tedious) tumbling technique, only 5 posts will show up on the front page: the latest contributions from our 4 main categories (tv, film, music and literature), along with our featured blog. This way, we hope to efficiently showcase a taste of all of the different servings The Funcooker has to offer! It should make better use of the navigation system, all the while making the front page more side scroll friendly.
Of course, what you see posted on your Dashboard will be different from what’s actually on the front page. So be sure to view the website from time to time! :)

photo Per the suggestion of a couple of readers, we went ahead a made a Twitter account for The Funcooker. Yeah, I know, WHALE FAIL. But we’ll give a try for a bit. See if it can help spread The Funcooker word beyond Tumblr. We WON’T be automatically twitting (twatting?) every post, if that’s what you were afraid of. Just highlighting select posts, site news and bit worthy entertainment news here and there.
So to those interested, feel free to follow us on Twitter:

To those that could care less, carry on.

photo Site Update: New Sections Added!
Starting today, you will now be able to post Film, Music and Literature related content! As you can see, we’ve recruited new members that specialize in their respected field. Please make them feel at home! We also added subsections to make navigation through the site much easier. Here is a breakdown of each new section:
Eargasm - A section about anything related to music: genre, songs, albums, artists, performances, etc. Along with each section, there are “Review” links to help you filter through different reviews. There is also a subsection called “Artist Corner”. This is where different musical artists are showcased from time to time.
Barnes and Borders - A section for the following literature content: books (all), comics (graphic novels included) and manga. Basically anything you can buy at your local book store. Magazines can also be featured, and will be listed under ‘books’.
Fundango - A section for domestic and foreign films. Posts specifically not about a film itself, like movie actors and directors, can also be posted here.
I’ve also set up an archive system where clicking on the poster’s name will allow you to view all of their posts.
*Message for our resident experts*
Make yourself different! For instance, we have tv contributors that specialize in a particular show, or in a particular type of post. As you can see, there are various subsections in DVR FTW. To the experts in our new fields: don’t let those tv people show you up, make your own subsections! Whether its a daily or weekly editorial, create a niche for your field and yourself!
TAGS
Now this is where it gets boring. But please bare with us. With new content about to be filtered from this point on, being able to navigate seamlessly is essential. That is why we would like you to tag the following for each specific content related posts if possible:
television - tv, name of show, name of network, genre
music - music, name of artist, song title, genre
literature - either book, comic, or manga, title, author
film - film, movie title, genre
So for example, if you were posting about ‘The Transporter’, then you would tag: film, The Transporter, action. That’s it. Add any other tags as you see fit, like name of director, for instance. But those are the important tags. I know it might seem tedious, but it helps filter them to their appropriate sections. We have editors that check posts in case tags are missing, but if possible, please try to tag them! Other than that, just have fun!
SPREAD THE WORD
If you can, please help spread the word! Lets be able to showcase everyone’s hard work out into the Tumblr universe! And if you have others that might be interested in contributing, let us know.
Any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask. Happy posting!
