Mad Men: Season 3
Debuts today on AMC with limited commercial interruption.
Breaking Bad: I heard a lot of good things about that show when it came out. AMC is a channel that really wasn’t on the map until they released simultaneously both “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad”, and I think we may have found the new HBO here. I know we said this about Showtime and FX, but AMC doesn’t seem to give a shit about ratings or viewers’ opinions. They just want brilliant shows. “Breaking Bad” tells the story of a chemistry teacher who finds out he’s going to die of cancer in the next two years. In order to leave some money behind for his wife, his crippled kid and the upcoming one, he starts using his skills to make great crystal meth. I know the plot sounds similar to “Weeds” but this show takes you very deep in the human psyche and it doesn’t let you breathe for a second. Even the moments that are meant to be funny end up feeling kind of fucked up. I recommend this show to anyone who feels they haven’t seen anything but procedurals on TV recently, I’m sure you’ll like it.
